About the Team
We help customers clear what they owe when a tenancy ends with money still outstanding, and we do it fairly, even when the conversation is hard.
We're building the best recoveries function in the industry. What that means:
We own our results. Clear targets, visible accountability.
We talk to people. Phone calls, not chasing letters.
We look for the right outcome. Affordable plans that customers can actually stick to.
We work fast without cutting corners. High standards and high performance, within FCA rules.
We improve constantly. Better processes, smarter ways to work.
People-first and technology-enabled. Resilience, empathy, and responsibility are the baseline.
About the role
As a Credit Controller, you'll be a member of our recoveries team, working with customers who owe us money after their tenancy has ended. You'll help them clear their debt in a way that is fair, empathetic and sustainable, and you'll recover money owed to Zero Deposit.
What you'll be doing:
Meeting recovery targets: Take a proactive approach to managing debts that are assigned to you. You’ll need to work towards these goals consistently to ensure you hit your individual targets and help the team to get to joint goals.
Make the most of every opportunity and interaction: We want to deliver gold standard customer service in each and every interaction. This can be difficult to do when talking about repaying a debt, your job will be to use empathy and understanding to help customers through a difficult situation.
Negotiating Payment Plans: One of the tools that we can use to help customers is an interest-free payment plan. You’ll need to ensure customers are paying off the debt quickly but in a sustainable way.
Meeting our Quality Standards: We’re FCA regulated, which means we have to follow compliance requirements. But, more importantly we want to ensure that we deliver a great customer experience. You’ll need to meet these standards as part of your role. In fact in your first three months getting up to standard will be your main objective.
Using the tools available to you to settle debts: This is a phone based role. You’ll have tools such as emails, phone calls and our power dialler, which you’ll need to use to get debt worked and paid back.
Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance processes, ensuring everything we do is scalable, compliant, and trackable.
Over-Communicate: Ensure customers receive clear, proactive communication, with expectations set from the first interaction.
This role is for someone who thrives on autonomy and accountability, who gets genuine satisfaction from helping people through a difficult situation and landing on an outcome that works for them and for us.
About you:
You'll excel here if you're:
Experienced in debt recovery or credit control, ideally in a consumer-facing environment.
Independent, ethical and trustworthy, with the integrity to treat every customer fairly, whatever their circumstances.
Patient and resilient, able to stay calm and empathetic in difficult conversations about money.
Detail-oriented and a clear communicator, on the phone and in writing.
Comfortable with technology, with experience of working across different systems.
Enthusiastic and someone who will work well with our team.
You're not here to just chase debt. You're here to show that recoveries can be fair to customers and still deliver results.
Benefits You’ll Get From Us:
In addition to your salary, we offer the following benefits.
Monthly performance bonuses that reward your impact in real-time.
Up to 30 days annual leave (starting at 25 and increasing with tenure) + all bank holidays.
Your birthday off, because celebrating yourself matters.
Genuine flexibility. We measure you by your results, not hours at a desk. There will be times when in person collaboration is essential, but autonomy is the default when you've earned it.
Free mental health, leadership and life coaching through our sanctus partnership.
Life insurance (UK only) and a company pension scheme.
Clear progression pathways, with opportunities to grow into senior recoveries roles, leadership or broader operations management as you develop.
Join us if you believe the rental market deserves better, and if you want to be part of a team that's proving what "gold-standard" actually means in practice, not just in slogans.
